With travel costs like airfare on the rise, your well-deserved vacation is going to cost you a hell of a lot more. Hey, there’s always a staycation?

If you thought it was just the airfare that would have you thinking twice about traveling, think again. You can expect to see higher hotel rates as well. You’d think

they’d want to go a little lower to compete with Airbnb... nope.

Say it ain’t so! Internet providers know if there’s one thing we cannot be without, it’s our precious WiFi and they’re taking full advantage. They could say their internet will

cost our first born, and we wouldn’t even think twice.  

For real though, it seems like every other month Netflix is announcing some sort of rate increase. So don’t expect that to stop anytime soon.

With Netflix getting out of hand, that means binging Stranger Things on the regular is going to start costing an arm and a leg. Guess we could always just buy

it on DVD...but who does that?

The best thing about Costco is the abundance of free samples, but with their membership prices increasing ever so slightly with each passing year - we won’t be able to

afford getting in the door anymore.

If anyone ever offers you a trip in a time machine, go back to the days when gas was a nickel and stock up, because gas is the one thing

that will never go back down, only up.

One of the most ironic things in the world is paying to drive on a FREEway. Okay, so these are highway tolls but still. It’s rude to make people pay

extra just to get to where they need to be on time.

Hell, we can’t even save on gas because public transit slowly keeps bumping up their prices like we don’t notice. Oh, we notice when it’s a quarter more here, and

then a quarter more there.

You may want to think twice about your annual road trip in 2018. Since we’ve already talked about gas and highway tolls, it’s apparent that a road trip would eat

into your bank account like no other.

Let’s be real, we do not utilize postage for things like letters anymore. Why when you can send an email? Because the mailman still needs to work, postage rates have

to be bumped up.

Because of postage rates increasing, those shipping rates online will increase. Um, say what? So no more splurging in the middle of the night.

If you’re like me you already wait for a matinee, but with the movie industry wanting to get more from ticket sales - even those early bird showings aren’t going

to come cheap.

If you think you can just wait until it comes out on Netflix, remember that the streaming service may be too much for you in the coming months. Oh well,

there’s always Redbox, right? Word has it that even Redbox is raising its prices.

People who make smartphones know how much we rely on them. It’s a given that they’d continue to make them more expensive because it’s not like we’d ever say no.

If you thought that smartphone prices were just going to affect what phone you had, HA. Nope. Not having the latest smartphone will put a damper on your selfie game

because you’ll be without those new cameras and features.

Lacking a great smartphone will also cause you to lack crucial-to-life apps like Snapchat.

Being unable to afford the internet and a phone plan means that you’d be out of the loop on so many things. You wouldn’t know how your aunt in Florida

was doing, what Trump tweeted or what happened on your favorite TV show. So basically you may as well be clueless this year.

Make sure to work hard AF on those scholarship essays because tuition isn’t decreasing, at all.

Coconut products aren’t going to come any cheaper this year. So if that’s something you use to rock a natural look, you’re going to want to stock up before you’re

paying more for coconut oil than your rent.

Acai bowls aren’t just pretty photo ops for Instagram. They are delicious, nutritious delights. They’re already a bit pricey but with their rise in popularity, don’t think acai places aren’t

going to try and make more bank.

More and more adults are living in their childhood bedrooms because rent in major (and even some minor) cities is getting out of hand. My friend in Oakland pays close

to $3000 for a one bedroom. ONE. BEDROOM. How are people supposed to be grown when it costs that much to have their own place?

Oh hell no! Good wine is already up there in price, but that doesn’t mean it can’t go higher.

How are we supposed to enjoy the final season of Scandal without a glass of wine? That’s not how Olivia Pope would want it.

Wine price increases would also mess with our girls' nights. We can’t gossip without some encouragement from the bottle.

So, y’all, I already knew this was coming. Back in the day I paid $4 for a decent size box of girl scout cookies. Now? It’s $5 for a mediocre

size, but who am I kidding? I would pay $10 for those Thin Mints.

It already costs over $100 to go into places like Disneyland and Universal Studios, but they really want to play around and make it more. RUDE. Those places better put

me in a movie for those prices.

Can we really be mad about this one? We already stopped buying music...so this is really one of the few ways artists can make a buck.

Whenever, say, the NFL wants to build a new stadium...they have to recoup the money somehow. So that means we’re left footing the bill by paying more to see our

favorite teams play.

If we are paying more to take a trip to Disneyland, go to Coachella or see a football game, that in turn means we’re breaking the bank to make lasting

memories. Could lasting memories come from sitting on the couch? Asking for a friend.

Did you know the price of chocolate is going to go up? We have to draw the line somewhere.

Cocoa isn’t the only food you need to get a handle on. Go to the store now and get all the meat you can because things like poultry are about

to go up.

Poultry and eggs? Seems like chickens are suddenly made out of gold.

This comes as no surprise. Have you ever looked at how much a bag of almonds costs?

Okay, it’s clear groceries are going up, so why not eat out? Not a good idea. Restaurants are going to start raising their prices as well.

Totally random, but if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead comics then you better be prepared to pay some more for them because that too is going up this

year.

Home repairs are going to start costing a bit more as well. Um, okay, guess we’ll all just live outside then.

Hmm, if you can’t swipe right because of a lack of a smartphone, or even afford dinner and a movie, then how in the world are people supposed to date

this year?

If people cannot date, then they cannot start families. Which is probably not that big of a deal because even if they did meet someone, it’s too expensive to find

a home and even feed their kids because groceries are way too much.  

At least in America, the cost of staying alive has gotten to the point that it’s just not fair. In a country that claims to be a world leader, we

should not have to make GoFundMe pages to afford medical treatments.
