Uber started as a luxury car ride request service that leaped into person-to-person ride-sharing when it realized that was more lucrative. The founders of Lyft started their company in response to awful Los Angeles traffic, using ride-sharing as a solution to having less cars on the road at any given moment.
There's a wholesome feel to everything Lyft does. And while I don't know upper-level employees of Lyft and Uber personally, companies are entities worthy of judgement by little ol' consumers like me. Whether a big company does something laudable or shameful, it's hard not to see it as a problem from top to bottom.
Lyft's service and glowing PR in recent months is true to its origin story. Uber's awful publicity in the same timeframe also seems true to its origin story. It may have more customers and a bigger brand, but I'm rolling with Lyft. Here are 6 reasons why:
