Gallery: According to a Man, This Classic First Date Actually Sucks

Although there are a ton of sites and blogs that talk about relationships from a woman’s point of view (and we certainly appreciate that), sometimes we like to see what the men have to say. Take the article “Why Dinner Dates Are a Bad Idea” on Ask Men, for example.

According to the author (who is a man), there are a few reasons why taking someone out to dinner on the first date is not a good idea. First, if you realize that you are totally not feeling them, you now have to wait until dinner is over and the check is served before you can make your exit (good point). Second, based on what was eaten---and how you both feel afterwards---it could put a damper on any coital plans (not sure if a first date is when you should be concerned about that but…OK). Third, because of the setting of a restaurant, rather than feeling comfortable and relaxed, it can put you on edge. Agreed. We threw the movie in for good measure because, who can get to know one another better in a movie theatre?!

It’s one thing to complain about something. It’s far better to find a solution. We gave it some thought and provided a list of six places we think would be far better ideas when you’re just getting to know someone. (Because that is the purpose of going on a date…right?)
