Different Parenting Styles: How You and Yours Can Come to a Compromise

Think back to when you and yours first decided to share your lives together. You probably talked about how much you loved one another, the dreams and goals you had. You might have even picked out baby names. But what about compatibility? Did you discuss the day-to-day demands of life and what your approach should be to them?

Take raising kids. Was one of you raised in time out while the other got spanked? Does one of you believe in “I’m the parent, what I say goes” while the other is all about negotiating?

If there’s one thing you need to present to your children it is consistency and a united front. But sometimes parents don’t realize how so not on the same page they are until the kids are already here.

If through the trial-and-error of discipline, you’ve discovered that you have totally different parenting styles, here are some tips on how you can reach a compromise. Before you drive each other---and your kids---up the wall!
