Wouldn’t it be great if all of us washed our hands and/or used hand sanitizer? This is the real world so you can hang that up. Cell phones, ATMs and
-
bathroom stall doors are breeding grounds for germs. Don’t touch any of them with your bare hands. Get a paper towel from the sink area and use it to open the

You probably would’ve never thought about this, but unless you feel like you’re going to lose it immediately---and by “it” we mean your urine---wait a minute before walking into a
-
stall that someone has just come out of. Why? After someone flushes the toilet, germs linger. You can breathe them in if you stand immediately over the toilet. This doesn’t
-
mean you have to wait forever. 45-60 seconds should clear the air out enough to keep you relatively germ-free.

Bathroom floors are pretty disgusting. Whether you see anything on the floor or not. Most public bathrooms have a hook on the back of the door for your personal belongings

like your jacket or purse. Please use it. Otherwise, no matter how much you may wash your hands, your stuff will still have public bathroom bacteria just waiting to greet

Remember those germs that we talked about that come up from the toilet when you flush? They can do it again, after you use the bathroom and flush. That’s why

it’s always a good idea to be fully clothed and facing the door when flushing the toilet. Although your germs won’t do any harm, there’s a slim chance that whatever’s
-
left behind by others…might.

Please tell us that this point is a given. WASH YOUR HANDS. Do it for at least 20-30 seconds, with soap, preferably in warm water if you can. And the blowers? They
-
might be annoying, but they are better for you than the paper towels.
-
-
One more thing. Back up all of this with some sanitizer. Especially if---and we’re not sure why you would---use your cell phone while you’re sitting on a public toilet. Your
-
cell needs to be cleaned off as much as your hands do. Then you can walk out of the bathroom, probably not feeling clean as can be, but much better
-
than you did about using one before reading this article. We’re willing to bet good money on that!
Ugh. Just the thought of going into a public restroom is enough to make you want to hold it until you get home. But sometimes our bodies have other plans, we have to suck it up and walk into a random stall, hoping that nothing too crazy is waiting for us.
