Whenever you think about compassion, what’s in the context of? Helping a person in need? Feeding a stray pet? Giving to the homeless over the holidays? All of these are excellent examples, but what about your spouse? Have you ever asked yourself “Am I compassionate enough when it comes to my partner?”

Compassion is not only about having a deep sympathy for someone when they are hurt, scared or going through a hard time. Compassion is also about doing what you can to help them, in a way that makes them feel helped. A spouse who’s intentional about extending compassion to their partner is a spouse who’s well on their way to having a happy, healthy and thriving marriage.

And what makes a spouse a compassionate one? Here’s a great starting point.
