Gallery: Is Your Significant Other 'Netflix Cheating' On You?
We don’t know if we’ve ever read about a cheating incident that made us laugh before, but this one did. Sure, you’ve heard of “Netflix and Chill” before (who hasn’t?!). But what about—get this—Netflix Cheating?
If you think it means that your boo is, umm, chillin’ with someone else, it makes sense that you would come to that conclusion, but that’s not where the phrase comes from. According to a Netflix report, close to 50% of couples cheat in the sense of binge-watching Netflix series either without the partner or (worse) without them knowing. A whopping 80% claim that their cheating hasn’t been planned and 81% are repeating offenders. (For shame!)
It’s not just happening in America either. Good news for Netflix (because this means TONS of people have subscriptions) is close to 60% of couples in Brazil and Mexico have cheated. And what are they watching? The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, Narcos, and Stranger Things.
Out of all that we read on the topic, what made us go “huh?” the most was the fact that according to data that was released in Hong Kong, 40% of those couples think that Netflix cheating is worse than actual cheating.
