But for whatever reason, some people took to Twitter after Gaga's set to waste their time and energy mocking her body — specifically, calling attention to an imaginary belly that they were convinced was poking out over

the top of her shorts at certain angles.

The war of words between Gaga's critics and fans made headlines in the days following her performance, so Mother Monster took to Instagram Wednesday to address her body shamers herself.

"I

heard my body is a topic of conversation. So I wanted to say, I'm proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too," Gaga wrote. "No matter who you

are or what you do."

"I could give you a million reasons why you don't need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed," she continued. "Be you, and be relentlessly you. That's the stuff of

champions."

"Thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys."

ALL the applause to Gaga for such a classy and graceful statement. She couldn't have handled that

any better.
