She's one of the best-selling music artists of all time, but now, she's opening up for the first time about a different part of her personal story: her struggle with bi-polar disorder.

In an exclusive interview with People magazine's editor in chief Jess Cagle, Carey acknowledged that she was diagnosed with the disorder in 2001.
