We all have moments when we feel more anxious than usual. It might be because we have a big meeting, or we woke up late and we need to get our kids to school. Or maybe there’s a special occasion that’s coming up that we’re super excited about. In these cases, it’s our emotions that rev us up.

But did you know that certain foods can also cause nervousness, uneasiness and anxiety? Anything with caffeine in it (coffee, for instance) can because it is a stimulant. Another is Beef jerky, because it contains monosodium glutamate, and that will cause your brain to work overtime. “White foods” like pasta, white bread, and anything with refined sugar in it can mess with you because these are carbs and they can cause your energy levels to spike and then crash (which leads to feeling anxious).

So yes. If you want to feel calm and more relaxed, it’s first important to know what not to eat. Then next step is to know what is good for you.
