Gallery: People Run From Rats In The Hood Everyday, But This Rat Cafe Aims To Make You Love The Pests
So here's a story that will make you go, "WTF!"
You might have heard of cat cafes - places where lonely people go to cuddle cute kittens and get in touch with their feels. Well now a place called The San Francisco Dungeon is launching a two-day-long RAT cafe in July. Yep. Sipping cappuccinos with filthy rodents is now a real live thing that people are paying for.
The Rat Cafe is a "pop-up experience" that will run July 1 and July 8; tickets start at $50 per person (are they serious?!) and include entry into the Dungeon's theme-park-style exhibits, bottomless coffee, and RATS.
Special items listed on the menu include a rattuccino, ratte, car-rat cake, and ratatouille. Cute.
So basically peeps are paying $50 to hang out with some nasty ass rats that people in the hood, and anyone with any damn sense, run from. Our only question is: are they also serving rat, and does it taste like pumpkin pie?
Of course people gotta defend the dirty vermin, saying stuff like rats are "highly intelligent and social animals who clean themselves regularly and thrive on regular interaction." Whatever you say, Humane Society of the United States. That's cool and all but who really wants to dine with rodents?
