After watching Kevin struggle through his injury and mask his pain with pills, it comes as little surprise when he ends up in rehab — especially since his father, Jack,

also struggled with addiction. What is surprising, however, is the fact that Kevin, often self-centered and narcissistic, accepted the help of others and got better with rehab.

Fans were pretty surprised to hear that Kate was expecting her first child with fiancé Toby Damon. Even Chrissy Metz (who plays Kate) was surprised by this plot twist!

In season 2, episode 4, we see Kate laying on the doctor's table getting an ultrasound, making it clear that Kate's obsession with trying to get healthy is all about

caring for the baby inside her, not losing weight. So cute!

When 'This Is Us' divided America's favorite couple in the season 2 premiere, we all were in awe. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO US, DAN FOGELMAN? After that epic fight

about how unfulfilled their lives are, which collectively made us all very sad and uncomfortable, Rebecca and Jack decide to separate for awhile and it tore our hearts to shreds.

Randall manages to track down William, the biological father who abandoned him as a child. William, a recovering addict, is living in a rundown apartment, and Randall wants to simply

tell him he doesn't need anything from him. Instead, of course, Randall offers to let William meet his grandchildren. We all immediately fall in love with his character and lovingly

watch the estranged father build a relationship with Randall's family. Only problem is — plot twist — William has stage 4 stomach cancer and is dying.

First of all, Beth's goodbye speech at William's funeral made us all reach for a box of tissues. She spoke of how angry she was that she didn't get to

say goodbye — a feeling we've all definitely struggled with at some point in our lives. Then, surprisingly, a piece of mail comes for Beth and it's a postcard from Memphis

from William himself, giving her the goodbye she needed. UGH so many tears.

Enter Deja, a troubled young girl whose mother is in jail, and whose storyline warms our cold, cold hearts.

Tess, Randall and Beth's oldest daughter, is a bit skeptical about her parents fostering a child. She reveals to Randall that she feels he wants a different life, since he's

always searching for something else besides her and her sister. That's why it was such an interesting plot twist when we get a glimpse at Tess' future occupation: a social worker.

Yup, that's right, Tess deals with foster children in her future, and Randall couldn't be more proud.

While Kate miscarrying her and Toby's little bundle of joy brought out all the water works, it wasn't THAT shocking of a plot twist. Her constant stress and worry over

losing the baby unfortunately foreshadowed the inevitable.

First of all, HOW DARE YOU? Our initial reactions to Rebecca marrying her beloved Jack's best friend, Miguel, made us all want to punch things. I mean, I guess the fact

that they wed nearly ten years after Jack's passing makes it a little more acceptable, but still, just no. Also, this was the original twist that set off the "Where

tf is Jack??" pandemonium.

Our beloved Jack has a bit of a drinking problem, as we find out soon into the first season of 'This Is Us.' He, adorably, wants to surprise Rebecca at

her show in Cleveland, only he drives while drunk all the way there. Once he gets there, he finds out Rebecca's ex-boyfriend (and bandmate) tries to kiss her moments before

taking the stage, punches him, and prompts the most epic fight ever with his wife. While watching, we most certainly thought Jack was going to wreck his car. To find

out that he makes it safely is shocking enough, but then to witness the aftermath was even crazier. All of our jaws were left hanging.

We're introduced to this seemingly perfect couple in season one, only to find out they don't get their happily ever after. As if that wasn't heart-wrenching enough, we then find

out that Jack is actually dead and in an urn in Kate's house. That was a giant shock to the system and left us wanting to know every single detail.

We should've known not to get too attached to Deja's character. But we did anyways, and we were devastated for Randall, Beth, and the girls when Deja's mom came back

to get her. WE BARELY KNEW YOU, DEJA.

Ok, this was a plot twist we didn't see coming. Considering Kevin and Randall's relationship, how jealous Kevin was of Randall growing up, and how self-centered Kevin seems to be

most of the time, it was really shocking to see him put family first and ditch the opening night of his play for his brother. We see you, Kev.

Okay, Dan Fogelman, this was NOT cool. First, Toby flies thousands of miles on Christmas just to surprise Kate and tell her he wants to be with her. Then you

give him a heart attack and leave his fate unknown until the next episode? Why would you do this to us?

We were all collectively shocked when we found out how the picture-perfect couple, Jack and Rebecca Pearson, actually met. It's a tale for the books. Jack and his friend are

plotting to rob a bar the same night he and Rebecca both had friends set them up on blind dates. We're all thinking they were set up on a date

with each other. Come to find out, Rebecca was waiting for an investment banker, but bailed because she had to sing. Jack, completely forgetting about his blind date, goes to

the bar to rob it, but instead is totally distracted by the woman singing on stage. That woman, of course, was Rebecca. The rest is history.

When Randall's daughter helped him realize that Jesse, William's "friend" from his support group, was in fact his boyfriend, it was quite surprising. Not only because William was in love

with a woman in his past, a relationship of which Randall was the product, but also because black bisexual men are rarely (IF EVER) shown on TV.

One of the most jaw-dropping moments was when we learned that Rebecca has met William before — not just once, but twice! It was a twist within a twist, really.

Not only did Rebecca confront William when Randall was an infant, but again when he was a brilliant elementary schooler who couldn't stop asking about his biological father. In the

second meeting, she basically wanted to ensure that William would not try to steal her son away from her now that William was sober. Yikes. BETRAYAL. SHOCK. Not only is

this an unexpected turn of events, it's also not just the audience learning something new — the characters are as well.

Time to prepare yourself for the waterworks. While we knew 'This Is Us' was planting hints here and there about Jack's untimely death, we were still shocked to find out

HOW he died. First, there was that time he drunkenly drove all the way to Cleveland. Then, there was the fire. Still, he did not die, even after going back

into a burning house. No. Jack dies after the fact, in the hospital, of smoke inhalation, and breaks all of our hearts into a million little pieces. Now we know

why Kate is living with all kinds of guilt as well. UGH.

The moment when we learn that Jack and Rebecca's third baby didn't make it was one of the most heartbreaking moments in 'This Is Us' history. Sure, we barely knew

the characters at that point, but oh my god, we were hit right in the feels. Then, just to give us a gut punch, along comes Randall. In the same

ugly-cry moment they lose one baby, they gain another. Total plot twist, and one of the best things about the show as a whole.

And probably the most shocking and exciting moment of all was the 'This Is Us' twist that begat all other 'This Is Us' twists. Yes, I'm talking about the dual-timeline

reveal! The reason it's so great is that it was hidden in plain sight the entire time. The setup is incredible, but the payoff is even better. Do yourself a

favor and go back and re-watch the pilot episode. The original twist was there from the very beginning: Jack and Rebecca's photos are labeled ‘75–’79; Randall checks his email to find

a message from Kevin with the subject "It's Our Birthday Bro"; there's that super outdated vacuum cleaner in the background during that Cupcake Dance; and so on. There's so many

hints, you'll be shocked you missed it the first time around. It was the very first, and honestly the best, twist we could've ever asked for.
