Maroon 5 started out making total Vh1-style, for-your-mama-and-her-friends-watching-Ellen music but keeps it hip and happening with SZA and "What Lovers Do."

I'm still unsure what a Zedd even is, but attach Alessia Cara to anything and it's golden. Seriously, she makes "Stay" worthwhile. That 21-year-old is like if Justin

Timberlake and Alanis Morissette had a wonderful love child.

In reality, Sam Hunt could never sing a word and he’d still make all the Best Of lists. Have you seen him? Looks aside, when he does open his mouth,

knees get weak. Which was exactly the case with “Body Like A Back Road.”

Someone very uncool like myself doesn't know if Migos is a group or a person, but I do know that people absolutely love them some Migos and "Slippery."

Is "Look What You Made Me Do" the best song ever? Not at all, but any song that can break the internet with a video release is worth

mentioning.

Listening to "Died On My Birthday" is like listening to an angelic hipster with a guitar in Silver Lake, California while sipping on homemade microbrews that your friend

with a handlebar mustache made.

Has there ever been a more appropriate song for a year? Paramore may’ve been writing about their own struggles, but they gave 2017 an anthem to hold onto for dear

life with "Hard Times."

One note into "Sign of the Times" and it was clear that Harry Styles didn't belong in a boy band. Hell, he didn't belong in this era. He's

an old soul with a modern day hotness.

Those who really miss the good old days of emo when Warped Tour wasn’t about to be a memory, may I introduce you to Figure Eight and “Forever.”

It’s like The Story So Far but far less angry at a breakup.

When we first met Kesha she was the soundtrack to a blackout drunk night. Then she went away, had some rough times of her own, and emerged a hell of

a lot better than before with "Praying."

"Heavy" is likely the only song that we are listening to with very heavy hearts. RIP Chester Bennington.

Okay so "Moonlight" could've been a bee buzzing for seven or so minutes and it still would've made the list based solely on the video that gave us

so much greatness by recreating Friends with our favorite Black actors like Issa Rae and Tiffany Haddish.

Not a mainstream hit by any means but anyone with good sense can hear why this up and comer’s “Sweet Freedom” deserves to be on a list of

Hot 50 hits.

When Liam Payne was in One Direction, he was kind of forgettable. I mean, when you're standing next to Harry Styles, it happens. On his own, though this dude showed

us that he can handle things riding solo with "Strip That Down."

It's been a minute since The Used released something worth talking about. So their dance-driven rock song "Over And Over Again" is a surprising breath of fresh air.

Because deep down our 15-year-old selves are still alive and well we have All Time Low's "Good Times." It's a reminder of the music that made your teenage

years worth living.

Had I not gotten to go see TLC perform "Way Back" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! I wouldn't know it existed, but once in awhile, there are good things

about living in Los Angeles. It's such an amazing reminder of why the '90s was the best decade ever.

If there's one thing Demi Lovato can do, it's churning out a banger. "Sorry Not Sorry" was all over in Summer 2017 and we're sure it'll be recycled

come Summer 2018.

2017 was very sweet to Australia's Middle Kids. They appeared on Conan and owned it with "Edge of Town."

This time last year I thought Post Malone was just an odd looking dude that sparked many memes. Little did I know I'd be all about that "Congratulations"

life 365 days later. His chilled vibe is undeniable.

Heartfelt melodies strewn across a lighthearted alternative landscape is the perfection of "Innocent Party."

Even when she had her whole rap thing, P!nk has never really put out a horrible song and "What About Us" is no different.

I Like” took us back to the days of MTV playing music and a Clinton in the White House.

If you were old enough to vote for Obama either time, listening to Shawn Mendes sounds like a crime. That 19-year-old has a way of making hormones rise with songs

like "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back."

By the end of 2018, there will be absolutely no room on Pale Wave's bandwagon because they caused quite the stir with people and it was all thanks to their

throwback '80s sound brought into the 21st century with songs like "Television Romance."

For months I had no clue "Slow Hands" was from one of the dudes from One Direction. It only made me think, why didn't they break up a

lot sooner...

Whether Donald Glover is acting in Atlanta, working on The Lion King or making amazing songs like "Redbone," we're all here for it.

If you were not singing, or at least humming, along to "Havana" in 2017 were you even really living? That hook was muy caliente!

One of the most common lies is "I'm fine." We say it to ignore the bigger picture and avoid further conversation. "Fake Happy" seems to capture that sentiment

and then some.

“Closer” is what I like to call a “Suburban Mom Jam.” It’s that radio hit that every mom and her squad know. They roll up to PTA meetings

blasting it like no other.

There are songs that clearly make you have a good time, but then there are songs that stop you in your tracks. "1-800-273-8255" is one of those songs.

Words will never be enough to express how refreshing it is to hear a mainstream song tackle a topic as personal and emotional as suicide.

In a perfect world, Sam Smith would totally come sing at my future wedding. Even a sad song like "Too Good At Goodbyes" would sound amazing because...uh, his

The Compton-born rapper can do no wrong in the eyes of global fans. He’s one of the most respected names in the game and “Humble.” is one of

the many reasons why. It’s that damn hook in the chorus that gets us every time.

One of the buzzed about artists of 2017 was most definitely Dua Lipa. She went from opening for Coldplay to headlining her own sold out shows. Guess she's setting her

own "New Rules."

There was a piece of me that wanted this song to fail because it was about to take Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s record away on the charts. Let’s

be real, “Despacito” is a great song of the summer but it’s nowhere near as grand as “One Sweet Day.” Regardless of all of that, “Despacito” had us

all believing we were bilingual this year.

Usually, music on TV shows is good, but I quickly forget about it. Not "The Weekend." Insecure really chose right and now SZA is one of the biggest

names on the Coachella 2018 lineup.

It’s no wonder this dude looks like something out of Lord of the Rings. He’s purely magical. He can sing ballads that instantly make you want to plan a wedding,

and then with the flip of a switch he’s able to make you dance like he’s Justin Bieber or something with songs like “Shape of You.”

Every year there needs to be at least one song that can instantly get you in the mood to get all dolled up for a night on the town and

this is it. At least “24K Magic” was my girls' anthem every time we were in Vegas in 2017.

Remember how Erin didn't understand Michael's attraction to Holly on The Office? That's me and "Bodak Yellow." I don't get it, but I have to respect she was

one of the few women on Billboard's Hot 100 #1 spot in 2017. For that, she also deserves to sit at number one right here as well. Girl power!
