The grass isn't always greener on the other side... except when it is because the homeowners on the other side can afford to make it whatever color they want.
It should come as no surprise that rich people tend to live in places with other rich people. By studying census data, Bloomberg found (unsurprisingly) that many of those places are suburbs in close proximity to major money making hubs like Silicon Valley and New York City. In fact, one third of the cities that cracked the top 100 are within 50 miles of the Big Apple.
Bloomberg's list of the "richest cities in America" takes into consideration average household income, as well as retirement, pensions, bonuses, and other sources. Based on their analysis of the data, here are the top 40 places (in reverse order) where you will probably find the greenest grass (in front of the most luxurious homes).
