You're A Vegan. He's Not. How to Compromise At The Dinner Table

You say tomato, he says to-maaah-to. You say potato, he says po-taaaaah-to. You say "I'll take that chickpea salad" and he orders... a steak. You follow a vegan diest and he doesn't, what happens next?

There are a lot of benefits to being a vegan. It can lower your risk of heart disease, obesity and strokes. Some studies indicate that it can reduce the chances of getting colon cancer too. And because being a vegan means also going without dairy, doing that can help you to avoid any contaminants that may be in dairy products, along with keeping you from experiencing the symptoms associated with lactose intolerance.

If you’re personally a vegan, you may already know all of this and find the lifestyle extremely fulfilling. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that your partner will. He may be a meat-and-potatoes man with absolutely no reservations. Or apologies.

No matter how passionate you may be about how you eat, don’t let that overshadow your passion for him. There is a way for the two of you to co-exist in the kitchen. Here are some ways to do that when you’re a vegan---and he’s not.
