Based on the novel of the same name, Endless Love is about the doomed romance of two teenage lovers, David and Jade. When Jade gets kicked out because of her

parents' disapproval of their relationship, David develops a plan to get back to the family's good graces that involves setting the house on fire.

A young writer named Stingo meets Sophie and her lover Nathan. He soon learns that Sophie is a Holocaust survivor. As Stingo unravels Sophie's painful past, Nathan becomes increasingly violent,

After the death of his wife, Sam (Tom Hanks), starts afresh in Seattle with his son, Jonah (Ross Mallinger). In an attempt to find his father a new partner, Jonah

calls a talk-radio program, and forces Sam to talk about his feelings on-air. Annie (Meg Ryan), hears Sam speak and is soon smitten, although she is already set to marry.

She writes him a letter anyway, and asks him to meet her at the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day. 

Charles (Hugh Grant) thinks he has no chance in love. When he meets Carrie (Andie MacDowell) at a wedding, he believes that maybe his luck has changed. After spending a

night together, Carrie returns to the States, ending all possibility of them ever forming a relationship. Their paths continue to cross over the years — over weddings and one funeral

— and he's starting to believe they're meant to be together even if their timing is always off. 

While on his way by train to Vienna, Jesse (Ethan Hawke) crosses paths with Celine (Julie Delpy). They engage in a long and stimulating conversation, and Jesse convinces Celine to

get off at Vienna even though she's on her way to Paris. Since he has hours to kill before his flight back to the States, they explore the city together,

enjoying the sights and the company of one another.

Rising over strong contenders like Romeo + Juliet, Jerry Maguire, and Emma, The English Patient follows the story of Laszlo de Almasy (Ralph Fiennes) and Hana (Juliette Binoche). Laszlo, a

badly-burned plane crash victim, is cared for by a nurse, Hana. He cannot remember his name as is therefore referred to as "The English Patient." His past is unveiled through

flashbacks, and it's soon revealed that he's married and that he's a cartographer mapping the Sahara.  

No one can argue that Titanic was the top romance film of 1997. In fact, it's one of the most celebrated romance films of all time! We just can't get

enough of the story of star-crossed lovers Rose and Jack, and even though we know their tragic fate, we can't help but watch their story unfold.

A film about William Shakespeare himself, Shakespeare In Love tells the story of a young Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes), all out of ideas, until he meets his Viola (Gwyneth Paltrow) who

became the inspiration for Romeo and Juliet.

William (Hugh Grant) is taken by surprise when a famous Actress Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) graces his humble bookstore. They soon engage in a full-blown affair, only to realize that

an average guy like him and a glamorous movie star like Anna may not work out after all. 

Nick's (Mel Gibson) entire life changes when an accident suddenly gives him the ability to read women's minds. He first thinks that it's a curse, as he is suddenly bombarded

with too much information, but he soon uses it to his advantage to outwit his new boss, Darcy (Helen Hunt).

One night in New York City, Jonathan (John Cusack) meets Sara (Kate Beckinsale). Jonathan thinks it was love at first sight, but Sara believes that they met because of destiny.

They soon lose contact, and after ten years, their paths magically cross again.

Arguably the best Nicholas Sparks film, A Walk to Remember follows the story of Landon, a popular high school kid who falls in love with a timid classmate named Jamie

(Mandy Moore) whom he used to bully. The two develop a relationship, which is further strengthened by the fact that Jamie is diagnosed leukemia. 

A heartwarming story following the lives of nine different people, this movie makes everyone realize that love is really that one thing that binds us all together. 

The film that made us all fall head over heels for Ryan Gosling, The Notebook is about Noah and Allie (Rachel McAdams), and their forbidden love. After a summer fling

that did not end well, Noah goes off to serve in the war while Allie becomes involved and set to marry another man. When Noah returns to their hometown, they

meet each other again and realize that their relationship still isn't over. 

Based on a short story penned by Annie Proulx, Brokeback Mountain chronicles the relationship of a cowboy, Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and ranch hand, Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger). After

one drunken night, Jack makes a pass at Ennis, and to his surprise, his advance was reciprocated. Ennis eventually marries his longtime love, Alma (Michelle Williams), and Jack weds a

fellow rodeo rider (Anne Hathaway). Even if they're both committed to two different women, they continue their affair over the course of two decades.

Frustrated with the current state of their lives, two women (Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz) decide to switch homes, only to each fall in love with the people they met

along the way. They soon realize that their impending trip back to each other's homes will force them to end what could have been.

Based on a novel by Ian McEwan, Atonement revolves around young lovers Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and Robbie (James McAvoy). The couple are forced to break up when Cecilia's younger sister,

Briony (Saoirse Ronan), fabricates a lie about the couple. Now they all must face the consequences of their actions.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunite in a movie about a married couple stuck in the suburbs. Frank (DiCaprio) cannot move on from a job he absolutely abhors, and April

(Winslet) yearns for something more. 

500 Days of Summer refers to itself as a tale of a boy meets girl, but it is not a love story. It's about Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who falls madly

in love with Summer (Zooey Deschanel), and is left in shambles when he's dumped him out of nowhere. He then reflects on their 500 days together to try and figure

out what really went wrong.

Pharmaceutical rep Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal) is immediately engrossed with Maggie (Anne Hathaway) after the first time they meet. They engage in a sexual relationship, which soon turns into a passionate

love affair. Maggie then reveals that she has Parkinson's disease, and must end her relationship with Jamie fearing that she might just hold him back. 

Jamie (Mila Kunis), an executive headhunter, entices Dylan (Justin Timberlake) to move from Los Angeles to New York to work at GQ Magazine. The two instantly hit it off, and

since they're both emotionally unavailable, they decide to incorporate sex into their relationship, no strings attached. 

After losing his job and separating from his wife, Pat (Bradley Cooper) spends time in a mental institution to recuperate. When he gets out, he meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who

offers to help him get back together with his wife if he agrees to join a dance competition with her.

Don't be surprised. The Great Gatsby is too beautiful a story to not deserve reboot after reboot. This time around, Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy

Buchanan, and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway.

Try not to cry your eyes out when watching this film, okay? Okay. Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley) meets and falls in love with Augustus (Ansel Elgort), a fellow member of

her cancer support group. They share the same passion for books, especially "An Imperial Affliction" by Peter Van Houten. When Gus surprises her with a trip to meet the author,

they go on the adventure of their short lives.

Set in the repressive 1950s, Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) and Carol (Cate Blanchett) develop an intimate relationship. While Carol tries to break free from her marriage, her husband questions her

capability as a mother as her involvement with Therese progresses. 

Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma Stone) are drawn together by their common desire to pursue their passions — Sebastian with music and Mia with acting. But as soon as

they aim higher, they are suddenly faced with decisions that could strain their relationship.
