Gallery: Yay! There's Hope for All You Insomniacs to Fall Asleep in Under One Minute!
First things first. How do you know if you’re an insomniac? If you have a hard time falling asleep (for more than a couple of nights), or you can’t stay asleep once you do, or you have low energy during the day (and it’s usually after waking up way too early in the morning), or you’re moody, aggressive and unproductive at work---well all of this points to you being an person who suffers from it. And, if insomnia lasts for more than a week or two, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. Sleep deprivation is no joke. (It can even kill you. Yes, literally.)
If you feel like it’s minor---still annoying, but yes minor---we read on a tip that you might want to try. The “4-7-8 trick” to be exact. According to Byrdie: “You simply breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and exhale through your mouth for eight seconds.” Apparently, a lot of people who don’t get enough rest are stressed and that causes them to “under breathe”; that is what disrupts their sleeping patterns.
Give this breathing/sleeping trick a try and let us know if it works. In the meantime, here are a few more things that just might make getting some much needed z-z-z’s tonight a whole lot easier to do.
