Toxic is the kind of word that we throw out there without really breaking down what it means. We’ll call an ex “toxic” or some girl that we know (who may be dating our ex) “toxic”, but why is that such a bad word? A low blow?

When something (or someone) is toxic, that means it’s poisonous. Poison in your system---physically or emotionally---will only cause you harm. If not immediately, over time.

Put that in perspective as you read this article. Do you have a “best friend” or “friends” (those words are in quotes for a reason) who you love and enjoy spending time with? But when you really stop to think about your interaction with them, there are all sorts of signs that they are not really the best kind of people for you to hang around?

If you’re not sure, already you’re onto something because a good best friend would warrant a “Heck naw. My girl always has my back!” But if you want a little more evidence that your girlfriend is more like an enemy in disguise, we’ve got some.
