It feels like The Simpsons has been on television for centuries, and honestly that isn’t far from the truth. The animated series holds the record as the longest running scripted primetime show of all time and shows no signs of stopping its iconic couch gags and Halloween specials anytime soon.

If you’re a millennial or a Gen Z’er, you probably don’t remember life without Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and Maggie Simpson, not to mention Moe, Barney, Mr. Skinner, and the hundreds of supporting characters who have lived in or passed through Springfield over the past three decades.
